This is a little calculator for checking if a pet has the potential of being a stuck pet.


What's a stuck pet?
Some pets in the pound will never show up through normal browsing, due to a glitch with their names. They can only be found by manually searching for their exact name, leaving thousands stuck in there for years.

This has lead to a neat subculture developing on Neopets; players systematically search countless names (and have developed some cool methods to do so), hunting for pets that are stuck in the pound.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For a name to be considered 'stickable' it needs to follow a couple of rules, as more thoroughly explained on ~Megablade's page.

There are certain letter's that have been found to cause pet's to get stuck :

  • The first two characters in a pet's name must match the first two letters of one of the above sets.
  • The third character in the name must match or come alphabetically after the third character of that set.
For example, if you thought of some names you'd like to search for, let's say Slay, Slime and Sloth, you would consult the list and see that SLI is one of the sets.

Slay would not be stickable as a comes before i alphabetically. Slime and Sloth DO have the potential to be stuck names because i and o match or come after i.

Names that don't match these rules generally will not get stuck and will be visible to pound surfers.
